History: The 1960 UNC Tar Heels baseball season started with a 19-0 trouncing at the hands of the Florida Gators. The season ended with a trip to the College World Series after the Heels captured their first ACC title (Atlantic Coast Conference) with a record of 22-7 which included an 11-game winning streak under the superb coaching of Walter Rabb. Wayne Young was uncanny on the mound and outfielders Tommy Saintsing, Johnny Burgwyn, and Gerald Griffin led a fantastic defense which led the ACC in fielding.
